  • Nick, Jordan, and Gastby meet at the Buchanan house for lunch.
  • The group plans their transportation.
  • The interaction with Wilson at his shop. 
  • During this scene the group is together at the Buchananans house. Daisy is pleased to see Gatsby, while his presence unnerves Tom. We meet the child of Tom and Daisy briefly before the group meets with Jordan as well. At this point, Daisy suggests leaving to go to town. It is at this point where she thoughtlessly compliments Gatsby and Tom overhears. Finally, Tom realizes the affair is occurring.
  • The conflict. 
  • Following brief debate over the transportation arrangements, the group decides to split up into two pieces when traveling the town. The group decides on the grouping of Gatsby with Daisy in one car with Jordan, Tom, and nick in the other. Tom discusses his apprehensions about Gatsby with Nick. He doubts that he went to Oxford; he also makes clear to Nick and Jordan that he now comprehends the romantic relationship going on between Gatsby and his wife.
  • The death of Myrtle.
  • Tom stops the car to get gas. At this point, he encounters Wilson, who tells him he is not well. He furthers inquires about the car Tom has previously discussed with him. Wilson informs Tom that he plans to move away and has also found out about his wife, myrtle’s affair.
  • Nick's frustation with Gatsby.
  • When the group meets in town, Tom reveals to Gatsby that he knew about the affair he was having with Daisy. It is at this point where they argue fiercely. Tom calls Gatsby a liar, bringing in doubt that he was an Oxford-educated individual, and claiming that Daisy doesn’t really want to leave him. Gatsby returns by stating that Daisy has, in fact, always loved him and not Tom. Daisy wants everyone to go home, and she leaves with Gatsby.
  • The car carrying Gatsby and Daisy, hit Myrtle. Daisy had decided she wanted to drive, as she felt it would make her feel better, but couldn’t stop when Myrtle showed up on the street. Myrtle’s dead body lay on the street and cops showed up. She is surrounded in blood. Wilson is intensely sad.
  • After the group learns of Myrtle's death, he approaches Gatsby back at Long Island and inquires about the details of her death. Nick becomes frustrated with Gatsby but doesn’t curse him out. Gatsby tells Nick that Daisy was driving, but handled the situation rather well when she learned that Myrtle had indeed died.
