Storyboard Tekst

  • Lions Natural Selection Process.
  • Hamza Bakir
  • Around 35,000 years ago there were variations of lions that possessed either darker or lighter fur coats. Some lions were able to blend in with the environment better than other lions due to their coat color.
  • Lions that acquired a lighter coat color were able to blend in with the environment more, which gave them the adaptive trait when it came to hunting.
  • However, the darker lions had a harder time catching prey, oftentimes they didn't succeed due to not being able to blend in with the environment. This meant that the lions with a darker coat had the non adaptive trait.
  • Lighter lions were able to survive and produce offspring more successfully because they were able to catch prey more efficiently, whereas the darker lions died more because they were not able to blend in, which resulted in them being unable to hunt.
  • Over time, lighter lions reproduced while darker lions died off due to starvation. Through the process of natural selection, the lion's population in the savannah regions are now almost entirely made of lighter colored lions.
