- This morning, we were given some hot coffee and hard biscuits. I don't know how we survive including the fact that we barely have any good food. We live off of mixed veggies, cake, and pickled beef. Well I have to go back to camp now, see you soon!
- I'm back at camp now resting like the medics told me to. I was hurt in one of my recent battles. I'm listening to the band play and reading the weekly newspaper. Camp life is miserable. We are worked all day and after a while it becomes very tiring both mentally and physically.
- I am able to help our soldiers out when they are hurt. Since our medical field and medicine aren't the best, we don't get much soldiers since they'd much rather die on their own. We are unable to treat most diseases so we often have many dying soldiers. We have some soldiers coming from battle like our next patient.
- I have just came from battle. This battle was short but intense and violent. But not as intense as the prison my buddy knows about. He can tell you all about them. Lets go visit him.
- I'm here to tell you about the prisoner of war camps. Conditions are horrible in these prisons causing over 50,00 deaths. Many suffered from disease that spread like crazy. Everyone was filthy and had little food and clothing. This is a huge issue because they also had lack of shelter from the sun.
- Even though these people didn't suffer as much as prisoners, African- Americans still had a hard time in camps and battle. They were used as personal slaves and construction workers. Most of the times the ones that did serve in battles were targeted and killed or captured and sold into slavery.
