- Hm... this is getting confusing. How many states can matter change into??
- There are three states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas! We see matter in each state just about every day!
- How will I know the difference between them?
- I'll teach you while we clean! Mom's almost home!Gasses and liquids take the shape of their container, and solids keep their shape no matter where you put them!
- Oh!! Like pouring juice in a cup, or soda in a bottle! Or like putting our legos in a bin!
- Yes! Just like that! See, you're getting it already!
- When mom boils water to make spaghetti! The water in the pot gets so hot it turns into a gas called water vapor! It takes up the space of the room and looks like it disappears!
- Wait! What about gasses? I can't remember any times I would see gasses!

- Some of these changes are physical changes, which means the change can be undone...
- Yes! The ice cream is still ice cream, just in a different state of matter!
- Like when you freeze ice cream!
