- Chicago, IIllinois in the late 1890's where the city is about to host the biggest fair in the world
- The two main characters of the part two in dedication day are Daniel Burnham , an amazing architect who thrived in the Chicago scene of architecture., and H.H. Holmes , a mentally insane pharmacist in the town of Chicago.
- The main architect Daniel Burnham was in charge of the whole construction planning of the fair . But unknowingly at the same time H.H. Holmes was articulating his killings of people while the fair was happening
- The climax of the novel is almost a couple days 'till the end of the of the World Fair held in Chicago, when a man named Patrick Eugene Prendergast who was led to believe Mayor Harrison would give a a job in the corporate council . Since he was the only one to think that, his anger and lack of patience got over him and he shot Mayor Harrison dead at his home. Which caused major commotion during the time of happiness and joy
- The theme of the book is that there's always a contradiction to whatever is planned. The author's purpose was to show in a real life event that as much happiness, health , and structure, there is also death destruction and sorrow
