- The Suger and Stamp Act- The French and Indian war had a big impact on Britain economically, so the British raised the taxes on sugar, stamps, paper, and other goods for the colonists.

- No Taxation Without Representation- Parliament passed taxes without the colonist's input. This resulted in the colonists becoming very angry.

- The Townshend Act and Reaction- The British Parliament passed a series of measures that taxed goods that were imported to the Americas. The American colonists reacted very poorly because they got no representation in parliament, and they saw this as an abuse of power.
