- I'm sorry George I won't do it again
- Off the Salinas River in California two migrant workers George and Lennie travel to a ranch for work.
- Candy discovers Curley's wife and they make a plan to make it look like George wasn't in on killing her
- Lennie and George are friends. However , Lennie is developmentally disabled, and because of his childlike mentality, the two friends always find themselves in trouble. George is responsible for Lennie, making sure he has work, food, and does not get into too much trouble. He gives Lennie commands, which Lennie is supposed to obey, and when Lennie does not, George scolds him.
- River.. Hide?
- Curley immediately dislikes Lennie and picks on him. . he doesn't trust them. he thinks something is odd about them. Curley is angry and is always looking for a fight to pick.
- Curleys wife tries to tell Lennie to stop stroking her hair but after scaring him, Lennie kills Curley's wife because of his inability to control his own strength and emotions, The more Curley's wife struggles and yells, the angrier and more scared Lennie becomes, leading him to shake her harder until Lennie ends up breaking her neck for her to be quiet, resulting in killing her. Candy comes in looking for Lennie and finds Candy's body.
- I did a real bad thing.. George is gonna be mad.
- Lennie doesn't understand his own strength, and that the force of his efforts breaks her neck, killing her instantly. Lennie immediately realizes right away that hes done a bad thing. he seems unable to comprehend the consequences of his actions beyond making George upset with him. Lennie was told my George to meet him by the river if anything bad happens so George could meet him there. Lennie runs away to the bushes
- Lennie is by the deep pool of the Salinas River, waiting for George. He talks to himself, repeating that George will be mad and give him hell. George tells Lennie that everything will be ok. George realizes he has to kill lennie. He had to kill Lennie himself so that he wouldn't suffer from Curley's revenge. So George had Lennie think of the farm they would live on before he got shot.
