Act 3
Act 3
Act 4
When Proctor and Abigail are alone in the bedroom with Betty, Proctor asks Abigail what they were doing in the woods. Abigail tells Proctor that they were just dancing and that was it, which was not what she told everyone else.
Abigail starts getting intensely questioned by Hale about what went on in the woods. Hale starts asking about Tituba, and finally Abigail cracks and says Tituba made her drink blood.
Abigail wants Elizabeth dead so she can have Proctor to herself, so she puts a needle in Elizabeth's poppet and stabs herself with a needle. This makes it look like Elizabeth stabbed Abigail, which makes Elizabeth suspicious.
Mary Warren brings in a deposition that shows everyone is lying/faking, and this isn't real. Danforth starts to question Abigail if the deposition is true, and she denies it.
Danforth keeps questioning Abigail about if they are faking, so to turn the attention away from her she says Mary Warrens spirit is attacking her. She says there is a yellow bird on the ceiling beam.
"Oh, Posh! We were dancin' in the woods last night, and my uncle leapt in on us. She took fright, is all." (20).
"She made me do it! She made Betty do it!" (40). "She makes me drink blood!" (41).
"Mary Warren, has given us a deposition... Is there any truth in this?" (95).
"No, sir" (95).
"Why do you come yellow bird?" (106).
"Oh, please, Mary! Don't come down!" (107).
"And what signifies a needle!" (70).
"The girl, the Williams girl, Abigail Williams, sir... stuck two inches in the flesh of her belly, he draw a needle out" (71).
"This is news, sir, that the court - the court must reckon with. My niece, sir, my niece- I believe she has vanished." (116).
