- Bob has been a repairman for over 15 years. He often works for private clients and the city.

- Today Bob is taking a job to replace a lady's broken window.

- The house is 5 feet from the sidewalk, and the window is 12 feet from the ground.

- After the window was fixed, Bob explained how he knew what ladder he needed to his new hire, Terry. Bob explained that he used the Pythagorean theorem to find the hypotenuse of the right triangle being forced by the ground, the height of the window. and the unknown length from the sidewalk to the window.
- Bob immediately knows that the ladder he needs will need to be 13 feet, so he can place the base at the sidewalk and have the top reach the window.

- An area of town got hit by a tornado. and there was damage to three areas of a couple buildings. Bob was hired by the city to help repair the damage that was done.

- After learning the measures of the distance between each damaged area, Bob was curious about the area between all of the damaged points. Bob used Heron's formula - A = sqrt(s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)) to find the area, and found that the area was 148 meters squared!
- At least the damage isn't too bad.

- Bob got home late because he worked on Heron's formula all evening long. Bob did not get back home for dinner, he had ramen all alone at 10:00 pm.
- That was a long, and exhausting day of work. I never want to work with a triangle again!
