God talked to Abraham about the promises He will fulfill to him.
“Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

God formed a covenant through circumcision, the Sign of Covenant, to ensure that his promises to Abraham are fulfilled.

Abraham was instructed by the Lord to travel to Canaan, where He would grant him the right to establish his country and bring his offspring with him.

Abraham was taken outdoors by the Lord at night and instructed to count the stars in the sky after forcing him to gaze up at them.
“Now look to the heavens and count the stars, if you are able.” Then He told him, “So shall your offspring be.”

A few years later, one of God's promises to Abraham was realised. Despite their advanced age, he gave him and Sarah their own son and heir, Isaac.

After a long period of time, Abraham established himself as the father of all peoples, and now there are billions of his descendants. Through the Lord's assistance and Abraham's righteousness, the Abrahamic Covenant was completed.
