  • William Travis I was one of the leaders of the Texas troops during the battle of the Alamo. The battle of the Alamo started February 23, 1836 and ended March 6, 1836. The battle of the Alamo was a memorable moment in history.
  • Some events leading up to the Alamo was that they banned immigration , General Santa Anna took over Mexico, Mexico outlawed slavery, and Mexican government stopped following the Constitution of 1824.
  • The Battle of the Alamo was a 13 day siege. Mexican troops were led by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna and the Texas troops were led by James Bowie and William Travis.
  • There were around 200 Texans defending the alamo, trying to fight for their independence. And there were around 1,500 Mexicans fighting the Texans.
  • One significance of the Alamo was that the chant, "REMEMBER THE ALAMO" was made said and it's important because it shows that when Texas was losing, they still wanted them and the Alamo to be remembered.
  • Now, the Alamo is a part of the San Antonio Missions World Heritage Site in San Antonio, Texas. It's a museum that many people go to to visit and look at the monumental things.
  • One event leading up to the Battle of the Alamo was when William Travis wrote the letter to all the Americans asking for help in fighting. That was a huge factor in Travis staying at the Alamo and defending it, because he knew there was hope.
