  • Bury me next to my husband I know death will soon come to me as well.
  • Ah, oh no more and more people are dying from this disease and there nothing we can do.
  • Umm, boss I think we have a problem. All the natives are dying we need a new source of labor.
  • We've arrived, this is the place where they will resupply us with enough slaves for our labor deficiency.
  • Hurry up and get in, sorry but you guys are just the next available source of labor.
  • Why did this happen? We don't want to be enslaved and forced to work.
  • Hehe, look at all this gold and silver. We're rich told you it was the right move to enslave the Natives and Africans.
  • During the 15th and 16th centuries when the prominent exchange occurred diseases such as smallpox and measles were introduced by the Europeans and brought from the Old World to the Natives in the Americas took place. The results were devastating it quickly and swiftly caused an epidemic that resulted in mass genocide for the Native American people, millions dead.
  • IKR, I guess you were right look at all the wealth that was gained.
  • As the Native population severely reduced because of disease and harsh abusive treatment the Europeans needed a new source of labor. The renowned Columbian Exchange was the main spark that brought the Atlantic Slave Trade into action, which would leave an unforgettable impact on both the world and in the minds of the African community and their descents to come. Africa was the ideal place to purchase and export slaves due to wealth motivating warlords and tribes started to participate in the slave trade to promote an atmosphere of lawlessness and violence.
  • Yep, I guess so *deep sigh*
  • I guess we both got taken advantage of. *deep sigh*
  • Ha! Tough luck there guys I actually benefited a lot.
  • Demand for slave labor rose intensely with the growth of sugar plantations in the Caribbean and tobacco plantations in the Chesapeake region in North America. The need to farm crops from the Americas that would be sent to Europe lead to an enormous rise in slavery creating an effect on an entire nation not just in the minds of individuals. This process led to the enslavement of millions of people and even at the time supported the entire economy of African kingdoms that dominated. The Columbian exchange promoted slavery to increase crop production and wealth.
  • Hey buddy just received another shipment today. How's your day going?
  • It's all good i'm just bringing this cargo back home. Hey this trading thing is pretty fun!
  • As a nation, Europe during that period of time encouraged colonial expansion and the unfair treatment of the natives in the Americas because of the idea of only gaining as much profit and power over trade as possible. The mother country benefited from the colonies receiving labor through the enslavement of natives and Africans, goods that were produced, and wealth that was accumulated.
  • European ideals of wealth from the 1500s to the late 1700s made it so that the colonies had to send their raw materials—harvested by enslaved people (Africans) or native workers—to the mother country. As a whole Europe benefited tremendously only focusing on the amount of wealth received using the labor of others taking advantage and using others for self-benefit. While Europeans gained wealth and resources the Native people and Africans were suffering and ultimately got the short end of the stick.
  • The Columbian Exchange displayed a revolutionary interchange incorporating different new varieties of resources. A modern example of this could be the import and export of relations between the US and China. China is the current leading maritime importer for the United States supplying textiles to plastics to metals and beyond with the top import being machinery & electronics while the main exports from the United States being consumables. Together they display a direct modern case of trading reflecting the turning point of the Columbian exchange that transpired hundreds of years ago.
