- Absolute Monarchy and Meeting the Estates General, 1789
- We are in a financial crisis and are here to meet about how to fix that problem. We will vote by order on this and go on.
- The King and I decided to just tax the third estates.
- Once upon a time, In 1789. King Louis Xll planned to tax the second estate to help pay off his debt with Marie Antioonette. However, they refused to pay unless he called a meeting of the Estates General. They had come to the conclusion that the third estates pay more than everyone else.

- Revolution Begins and a National Assembly, 1789

- After that, the National Assembly was formed because Louis XVl was taxing the third estate at the Catholic Church. The people of the third estate demanded the King make reforms to ensure that people were treated equally and fairly. On June 1789, The National Assembly took the Tennis Court Oath vowing the National Assembly would finish writing their new Declaration of Rights.

- This was created after the collapsed of absolute monarchy of Ancient Regime.
- We also had the Constitution of 1791
- This document set up a new government, a constitutional monarchy
- Then, The Constitutional Monarchy wanted to affect more of the government. Therefore, people who fled France and wished to restore the Old Regime called Emigres and workers wanted a better Revolution called sans-culottes. People were scared of others destroying their countries so, the Legislative Assembly called war. But they ended up setting aside the Constitution of 1791 since everything was unbalanced.

- Napoleon Bonaparte's Reign, 1799-1815
- The Napoleonic stage, the final stage of the French Revolution, began when Napoleon overthrew the Directory. This stage had a significant impact on the future of France because, during this time, France gained its first emperor. Napoleon became the first emperor of France in May 1804.

- Then, After royalist rebels marched on the National Convention, the government told Napoleon to fight in delegates. He then agrees to be the first consul and started a seizure of power called coup d'etat. Napoleon now rules France such as a new government with trained officials, set up lycees. He also signed a concordat for the relationship between church and state. Napoleon created his own laws known as the Napoleonic Code. In the process of his downfall, Russians practiced a scorched-earth policy meaning they burned crops so the people couldn't eat anything.

- Let's get a long term peace plan for all the problems caused by Napoleon.
- In the end, the Congress of Vienna was a conference of ambassadors of the major powers of Europe, known as the Concert of Europe. Its purpose was to decide about the political situation in Europe after the defeat of Napoleon. The leader, Metternich wanted was to make sure that the French wouldn't attack another country again. He also wanted a balance of power in Europe and legitimacy.
