- Capulet and Capulet’s Cousin discuss the masked party. They are excited because they haven’t worn a mask at a party in almost 30 years.
- Welcome, gentlemen, How long is it now since you and I last wore mask at a party like this?
- I swear, it must be 30 years,.
- Romeo notices Juliet and is instantly infatuated with her. He thinks she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen and falls in love. He decides how he will approach her.
- She outshines the other women like a white dove in a flock of crows.
- Who is the girl?
- I don't know, sir.
- Tybalt (Juliet’s Cousin) notices Romeo at the party and is angry that he is there. He is convinced that Romeo is there to cause trouble and he wants to kill him on the spot. He considers Romeo a villain. Capulet puts Tybalt in his place refusing to allow him to cause a scene at the party. He says that Romeo and his companions are carrying themselves like gentleman.
- I'll leave here now, but Romeo's prank, which seems so sweet to him now, will turn bitter to him later.
- Uncle, this man is a Montague-our enemy.
- Calm down, gentle cousin. Leave him alone. He carries himself like a dignified gentleman.
