- Wow I love my job as a physician, I am only 45 years old and I am making around $423,000 yearly right now
- I have worked so hard but why am I only making $311,000 yet we are both 45 and have the same credentials.
- I am currently a medical physician, I have gone to school and had all the proper training for the job, however in recent studies I still earn more than $110,000 less than males in the same location as me, specialty, and with the same years of experience.
- While the gender wage gap for physicians as decreased from 34% in 2020, 32% in 2021, to 29% as of October 2023, there is still a growing gap in the wage and treatment of men and women, even in controlled statistics where men and women have the same specialty, age and years of experience. In a more broad perspective, as of 2023, women are still earning 24% less than their male counterparts regardless of what job. There are many reasons this issue is still ongoing, some because of different job titles and years of experience, but also because of discrimination that is still held against women in the workforce. The gender wage gap issue that we face is just one of the forms of gender inequality we face today.
