Storyboard Tekst

  • Wait, what's thermal energy?
  • Thermal energy is the energy that heat is made of. the more thermal energy there is, the more the particles move. thermal energy is what causes particles to change state
  • Kinetic energy is the energy generated by motion., and it is measured in joules. thermal energy measures the total kinetic energy of all the particles contained in an object.
  • for example, a teapot would have more thermal energy then a teacup, not since it is hotter, but rather because it has more particles because it has more tea. more volume.
  • then there is heat. heat is energy that is transferred from the object with higher kinetic energy, to an object with a lower kinetic energy. heat never goes form the object with lower kinetic energy to the object with higher kinetic energy.
  • Add them all together.4+10+6+3=23
  • and, last but not least, temperature. temperature is measured by the average amount of kinetic energy. so, for example, let's say I have four particles. one is four, one is ten, one is six, and one is three. to find the temperature, i do as follows:
  • and there you have your temperature
  • then, i divide it by the number of particles.23/4=5.75
  • thanks harmony!
  • no problem!
  • And he aced his test the next day
