- Josephine tells Mrs. Mallard that her husband had died in a train accident.
- RISING ACTION
- Mrs. Mallard goes by herself to think. She realizes that she is free and independent. She is secretly happy.
- END
- Wait, What?
- Brentley?!
- The resolution of the story is that Mrs. Mallard died. Josephine and Mrs. Mallard are standing in the living room when Brentley walks in. That causes Mrs. Mallard to have a heart attack and results in her death.
- Who will be knoking on the door?
- Mrs. Mallard is absorbing everything that has happened, but at the moment she has a very strange feeling. She doesn't feel what she really should feel after this bad news.
