- "All right mother, it's market day today, and I'll soon sell Milky-White , and then we'll see what we can do."
- "We must sell Milky-White and with the money start a shop, or something.
- " You don't say so."
- "Right."
- "I don't mind doing a swap with you- your cow for these beans. If you plant them overnight, by morning they grow right up to the sky."
- " Yes, that is so. And if it doesn't turn out to be true you can have your cow back."
- "What do you say to these beans? They're magical. Plant them overnight and-"
- "I see you haven't got Milky- White , so you've sold her. How much did you get for her?"
- "What! Have you been such a fool to give away my Milk- White for a set of paltry beans? Take that! And as for your precious beans here they go out of the window."
- "Good morning mum, could you be so kind as to give me some breakfast\?"
- "It's breakfast you'll be if you don't move off from here. My man is an ogre and there's nothing he likes better than boys boiled on toast."
- "I smell blood of an Englishman, be he alive or dead, I'll have his bones to grin my bread."
- "Nonsense dear. Perhaps you smell the scraps of that little boy you liked so much for yesterdays dinner. Here you go and have a wash and tidy up, and by the time you come back your breakfast'll be ready for you."
- "Mother! Mother! Bring me an ax, bring me an ax."
- "We're rich!"
