Storyboard Tekst

  • Tom, Daisy, Jordan, Nick, and Gatsby at the Buchanan home
  • Gatsby meets Pammy for the first time
  • They are all on a trip to NYC with Daisy and Gatsby riding alone.
  • Daisy invited Nick and Gatsby, as well as Jordan, over to her house for lunch. It was an incredibly hot day, easily the hottest day of the year, and the whole group partook in drinking alcohol to cool themselves down.
  • Daisy is emotional while Gatsby and Tom fight over her love
  • As everyone was gathered in what seems like a lounging room, a nurse led Daisy and Tom’s daughter into the room. As she entered the room, Daisy held out her arms for her daughter to come and embrace her. Gatsby looks at Daisy’s daughter, Pammy, with surprise as he comes to terms with her existence.
  • Daisy and Gatsby ride away after killing Mrs. Wilson . Tom was saddened by the sight.
  • Daisy suggests that she, Tom, Nick, Jordan, and Gatsby all go to New York City to spend the day. Tom notices the way that Daisy and Gatsby interact, and figure out that they are having an affair. Tom, Nick, and Jordan decide to take Gatsby’s car to New York and Gatsby and Daisy take Tom’s coupé. Nick knew Tom had found out about the affair when “He looked at me keenly, realizing that Jordan and I must have known all along. “You think I’m pretty dumb, don’t you?” he suggested” (121).
  • Gatsby and Nick peeked inside the Buchanan home to witness the conversation between the couple
  • Tom and Gatsby confront each other in the hotel room about who Daisy loves. They both start fighting while Daisy attempts to steer the conversation away from the topic and get them out of the room, but they continue. After Gatsby forces her to tell Tom that she never loved him she says, “‘Oh, you want too much!’ she cried to Gatsby. ‘I love you now- isn’t that enough? I can’t help what’s past’ She began to sob helplessly. ‘I did love him once-but I loved you too’” (Fitzgerald 132).
  • Tom, Nick, and Jordan arrive in The Valley of Ashes shortly after Daisy hits Myrtle with Gatsby’s car and flees the scene without stopping. Tom is devastated to find the sudden death of his mistress, and is filled with renewed anger towards Gatsby, who he believes is responsible. It’s questionable whether Daisy may have hit Myrtle on purpose, possibly with the knowledge that she is Tom’s mistress.
  • After the disturbing events of the trip to New York and the old relationships dug up from the past, Tom and Daisy sit down together to discuss the distressing conflicts that had been brought up about their marriage. Though it’s obvious that Daisy loves Gatsby, it is evident that she loves or loved Tom as well, and their years spent together as a married couple show in their familiar intimacy; “There was an unmistakable air of natural intimacy about the picture, and anybody would have said that they were conspiring together” (Fitzgerald 145).
