On May 12, 1990, Chris completes his degree from ...His parents have plans for him but Chris has different plans for himself. He dislikes materialism and decides to leave the world behind in search of true happiness and identity.

Chris begins his journey and drives to Lake Mead in Nevada where he burns his car along with his money and leaves his other possessions behind. He visits many places such as Mexico, California, Texas, Arizona, and South Dakota but his final destination is Alaska.
I'm free! now I can finally live the life I've always wanted.
On his way to Alaska, Chris meets many wonderful people like Westerberg and Franz. They become close to Chris and treat him like family.

Many people warn Chris not to go into the wilderness by himself as it could be risky and life-threatening but he's determined. Chris crosses the Teklanica river into the Alaskan bush not knowing that this is his last contact with the world.
Chris, it's not a good idea to go in the wilderness by yourself, it's dangerous!
Don't worry, I'll be fine.
In the Alaskan wilderness, Chris finds an abandoned rusting FairbanksBus 142. He makes this bus into a makeshift shelter and stays there until his last breath. Throughout his adventure, Chris keeps a journal of his challenges and hardships.
I hope that one day, someone will read my journal.
Sadly, on September 6, 1992, local hunters from the area discover his decomposed body. People believe that Chris died from starvation.
