  • Glide: 1
  • Water In The Ocean
  • Hi! My name is Eva and I'm a water molecule that is currently in the ocean. I am going to take you through the steps of the water cycle.
  • The water cycle is a journey all water goes through. There are seven steps of the water cycle.
  • Fun Fact: There is the same amount of water on Earth now as there was when Earth was created
  • Glide: 2
  • Evaporation
  • During evaporation the sun solar radiation turns water from a liquid to a gas. Thermal energy breaks apart our bonds.
  • Uh Oh! I'm Scared!
  • Glide: 3
  • If you have not guessed, this process is called condensation.
  • Condensation
  • Once we are turned into water vapor, we form into clouds. This occurs because gas condenses into visible water droplets.
  • Water vapor is water in it's gas form
  • Glide: 4
  • Precipitation
  • This is so fun!
  • AHHHH!!
  • Once we have turned into a cloud, precipitation happens. This is when water droplets in clouds become too heavy and fall back to Earth.
  • Glide: 5
  • The 3 states of matter (solid, liquid, and gas) relate to the water cycle because there are different forms of water at all times in the cycle.
  • Sublimation
  • Sublimation is the process where snow/ice changes to vapor without first melting into a liquid. This happens in cold places because the water turns into a solid.
  • Glide: 6
  • Fun Fact: Evapotranspiration is the grand process where all water moves to the land by evaporation and transpiration
  • Transpiration
  • Transpiration occurs when water inside the plants is transferred to water vapor. This process mostly occurs during the day. Water exits the plants through multiple openings in the leaves.
  • Glide: 7
  • The water cycle affects the weather because it determines rain, snow, and temperature, depending on how much water vapor is in the air.
  • Run-Off
  • Fun Fact: 97% of water on Earth is too salty and undrinkable
  • Run-Off happens when there is more water than the ground can absorb. The extra liquid flows across land and into bodies of water.
  • Glide: 8
  • We can conserve water by turning off the faucet, taking quick showers, and using water-efficient appliances.
  • Infiltration
  • Interception is the process of interfering with water movement. For example, vegetation cover prevents water from reaching the soil.
  • Infiltration is water seeping into the soil and goes into the cracks of the rocks.
