  • A bit of war!
  • This is an order so you must do what is told.
  • Come on let's get some scalps or prisoners!

  • On Oct. 25th 1744 a order that was passes out at the court saying that for male Indian scalp its 100 lbs. Each women or child under the age of 12 is 50 lbs for a scalp. 5 pounds more were for if you caught a prisoner than a scalp.

  • You shall be taken as prisoner
  • Don't hurt the kids!
  • On April 19, 1746 the Indians made their way across the Presumpscot River in a little town with four men with their families. Their names were William Bryant , John Reed, Hugh McLellan, and Edward Cloutman.
  • Boat is sinking we're going down!
  • Help! We're drowning!
  • Reed was coming back from McLellan's and suddenly Indians overpowered him and took him as prisoner. Cloutman on the other hand was taken by surprise and also was prisoner.

  • Bryant was in the field that day and saw the Indians so he tried running to the fort but instead killed like the rest of his family except for the wife, she was taken as prisoner like Cloutman and Reed to Canada.
  • Mrs. Bryant on the other hand was released Sept. 30th, 1746. On Oct. 20th, 1746, Edward Cloutman and Robert Dunbar who was also captured by Indians escaped. But both were drowned while crossing Lake Champlain. And Reed died as prisoner the same day.
  • On Nov. 20th 1746 Mrs. Bryant got married because of how her family died. She was married to Leonard Lidle, who was also a prisoner to the Indians. And very sadly she passed away on May. 8th 1747.
