- The Marshall Plan was the European Recovery Program that provided $13 Billion in financial aid to rebuild Europe's economy and keep peace. The United States wanted to isolate the Soviet Union from expanding its sphere of influence beyond Eastern Europe.
- Berlin Wall
- The Soviet Union cut off all access to the city of Berlin by land and sea. As a result the Allied Powers and the United States aircraft supplies to keep the people in the city of Berlin alive which was biggest airlifts in history. The Soviet Union wanted to avoid war and opened the blockade and Germany was divided (East and West)
- Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan
- After WWII ended, the Soviet Union began to install communist governments in Eastern Europe causing concern within the United States and their Western European allies creating the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) which was a military alliance stating that if any on the members gets attacked (specially by the Soviets) the other countries are obligated to provide assistance.

- During the time of West and East Germany division, citizens of East Germany attempted to escape the rule of the Soviet Union. As a result of their citizens leaving the Soviet Union built a large wall surrounding East Germany to prevent people from leaving but people still attempted to escape and resistance raised. The people on both sides broke down the wall causing to Soviet Union to back down.
- Under the ruling of different leaders in Afghanistan, the attempted to create a Communist Government while opposing groups wanted to form an Islamic State. The Soviet Union launched an invasion and controlled Afghanistan for 10 years until Anti-Communist groups supported by the United States took over and drove the Soviets out.
- After the Soviet Union launched Sputnik the world's 1st artificial satellite into Earth's orbit, the United States started their own Space Exploration and advanced their technology as the Arms Race continued. The US Space Program NASA successfully launched space missions which resulted in the US being the 1st to launch someone in Earth's orbit and have the first man to walk on the moon.
