  • Townshend Act/Boston MassacreThe Townshend Acts were passed in 1767 and taxed various goods, such as lead, tea, paper, glass paint. By now, everyone was fed up, and protests engulfed Boston. During one such protest in 1770, patriots heckled British soldiers, and the soldiers panicked, killing 5 protestors. The news of this massacre spread like wildfire.
  • 20% more for the same great quality!
  • This is outrageous!
  • Tea Act/Boston Tea PartyAfterwards, all the Townshend Acts were repealed except for the tax on tea. The Tea Act, passed in 1773, granted the British a monopoly on tea. To protest this. Sons of Liberty dumped the tea into the Boston Harbor that same year.
  • You can only get tea from us! We can set any price we want now!
  • Atleast the rest are gone..
  • They were disguised as Native Americans, but I was too lazy.
  • Intolerable Acts/Continental CongressThe Boston Tea Party infuriated Parliament which passed the Coercive, or Intolerable, Acts in 1774 to punish the colonists by imposing even harsher restrictions. Eventually, some colonists formed the Continental Congress in Philadelphia in 1774. In 1775, they sent the Olive Branch Petition to King George III in a last attempt to make peace. It failed, and it was clear war was inevitable.
  • Great idea!
  • We'll send a petition to the King!
