- The Stamp Act 1765The Stamp Act forced colonists to buy a stamp for almost every paper document. It was supposed to pay for troops serving on the front line, but colonist viewed it as just another tax.
- We better go buy stamps so that we can mail these letters, thanks to the STAMP ACT.
- I am so mad its, so stupid that we have to buy a stamp for almost every official document that we want to buy. This is just another way that the British are trying to tax us.
- The Boston Massacre 1770Colonists gathered to protest what they viewed as unfair taxation and all the new laws Britain was enforcing. When they got there they started threatening the soldiers and pelting them with ice, stones, and snowballs. Britain felt threatened, and eventually a gun got fired and three colonists died.
- The Boston Tea Party 1773Colonists dressed up as Native Americans and dumped more nearly 90,000 lbs of tea overboard. Thanks to these actions Britain punished the colonists with the coercive acts(Intolerable Acts)
- Lexington and Concord 1775Colonial militias and Britain troops battled at Lexington first where Britain made the colonists run towards Concord where the Colonists ended up beating Britain.
- Battle of Saratoga 1777Patriots win at the Battle of Saratoga which prompts the France to sign the Treaty of Alliance. The French greatly helps out the Patriots economically and in troops.
- Yorktown 1781Continental Army defeats the Britain troops at Yorktown. The Britain surrendered and the Colonists sealed the victory.
