At Anil’s home
If you can cook, then maybe I can feed you.
I want to work for you... I can cook.
The boy follows Anil and asks him for a job. Anil took him to his room over the Jumna Sweet Shop and gave him space on the balcony to sleep. Hari cooked a meal which was so bad that Anil gave it to a stray dog and told Hari to be off. Hari smiled in his most appealing way and Anil agreed to teach him how to cook.

After almost a month …
I haven't stolen from him for almost a month even though I got the opportunities. He trusts me a lot.
Hari would steal 1 rupee whenever he bought supplies. One day, Anil had earned some money after selling a book. He tucked the money under his bed. He trusted Hari very much and it was difficult to rob him because he would not even notice his money was gone. Hari considered the situation and decided to steal the money.

I missed the chance to get away. Where should I sleep? The only person I know is the one I just stole from…
Hari stole the money and ran to the train station hoping to catch the 10.30 Express to Lucknow. He had 600 rupees in his fifties. The train was moving but still had time to pick up speed. Hari hesitated and missed the train.

He returns to Anil and puts the money back in its place. The next morning Anil decides to pay him.
He headed back to the room and placed the money back. The next morning he woke up to find that Anil had already made his tea. Anil gave a RS.50 note and promised he would be paid regularly. Hari took the notes in his hands and realized that the notes were wet. Anil knew he had stolen the money but he didn’t show it on his face. Hari smiled in his appealing way.

Anil will show only a touch of sadness. Not for the loss of money, but for the loss of trust. I also lost the chance to become an educated and respected man…
