- Now I am going to tell you about Poultry. Poultry is the process of raising domesticated birds such as chickens, ducks, turkeys and geese for the purpose of obtaining meat and eggs for food. Indian poultry mainly includes two types of breed - indigenous and exotic. [1] the most popular indigenous breed of India is Aseel . This provides high yield of meat but is not a good egg-layer. [2] Out of many exotic breeds of fowl, the following to breeds are most popular in India: (i) White Leghorn and (ii) Rhode Island Red.
- Now I am going to tell you about Meat Providing Livestock . [1] Goats are mainly used for meat though they also provide which is good. [2] Sheep provide mutton, wool and skin. [3] Pig contributes only 5 % of the total meat production in India and is a rich source of protein.
