  • On January 17th, Hollins transportation bus took off and began its route with beloved bus driver Andrew Hammond behind the wheel.
  • Before the horrific events that occurred on this day, Andrew never had any violations and was known as a good man with nothing but love in his heart. But the events that concurred are simply too significant to be ignored.
  • After Hammond had driven to all of his stops and received a busload of passengers, he began exhibiting reckless behaviors as he beeped his horn excessively.
  • BEEEEEEEPPPPPP
  • The other cars on the road also noticed his windshield wipers at full speed, even though the weather that day was idyllic.
  • What is he doing!!!!!
  • BBEEEEEEEEEPPPPPP
  • What in the world??
  • The babies on the bus, dismayed by the bus driver's actions, cried with full force. Distressed mothers were forced to try everything to calm their weeping infants.
  • WAAAAAAAA
  • Shhhhh
  • Shhhhhh
  • WAAAAAAAAAAAAA
  • Passengers on the bus and fellow drivers on the road alerted law enforcement of the dangerous behaviors that Hammond was partaking in.
  • Excuse me. yes officer. I think something is wrong with the driver…… He´s acting crazy.
  • BEEEEEPPPP SWISSSSSHHHHH
  • WAAAAAAAA
  • Shhhhhh
  • WAAAAAAAAAAAAA
  • After fifteen minutes of driving, the Hollins transportation bus was finally pulled over by the police.
  • When the officer spoke to Andrew, he noticed him slurring his words. Immediately a blood alcohol test was done. When the results showed that his level was 0.15, an arrestwas made as the officer read him his Miranda rights and whisked him away into the cop car.
  • Andrew Hammond, you have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer any questions. Anything you say may be used against you in a court of law.
  • (slurring his words) BBBB… I´m not drunk off--fff-iiii--cccerrr
  • have the right to consult an attorney before speaking to the police and to have an attorney present during questioning now or in the future.
  • When they finally arrived at the county jail, Andrew sat distressed in his cell. Unbeknownst to the rest of the town, this was Hammonds's fourth drunk driving offense, meaning the charge would be a felony this time.
  • I don´t want to go to prison.
  • After two days, Andrew´s bail was set for $100,000. He didn´t have the money, so he called his mother, hoping she would sympathize with them.
  • Mom, please come get me I hate it here.
  • No! This is ridiculous, Andrew.
  • So in jail, Andrew sat until his preliminary hearing.
  • At the prelemenary hearing
  • Based on everything I´ve heard today, I believe Andrew´s case has more than enough evidence to be taken to court.
  • So on February 4th Andrew Hammond was formally indicted on the count of felony DUI.He decided to plead not guilty, claiming that his test results were wrong.
  • I didn´t do it, guys, I promise.
  • The court began to gather a jury to hear Mr. Hammond´s case. They searched hard to find a diverse group of individuals that would be impartial to Andrew´s circumstances.
  • On March 15th, the trial began. The prosecution team brought their first witness to the stand, the mother of one of the crying babies.
  • I was sitting on the bus with my child when the driver started beeping his horn uncontrollably.
  • He swerved the bus constantly as he drove. My baby was terrified and began to cry. I had to do everything to ensure we would make it off that bus alive.
  • After the mother came up, the defense brought up a witness: the defendant Andrew Hammond himself.
  • Andrew, please tell me what happened on January 17th.
  • Jury, I was framed.
  • The officer that did my blood alcohol test knew me from high school and wanted to make me look bad.
  • He knew me from back in high school, and he´s mad because I took his girlfriend in 10th grade.
  • Andrew was yellung so loudly that the bailiff had to walk over to calm him down.
  • Please lower your tone sir
  • And so Andrew did
  • I´m sorry for losing my cool I just wanted to let you know that I am innocent.
  • Sometimes I get a little excited while driving and beep my horn. That doesn´t mean I was drunk.
  • After all of the witness and evidence was presented, the judge dismissed the jury for discussing whether they thought Andrew was guilty.
  • Jury you have a tough descision to make. Let me know when you have reached your verdict.
  • After debating for 4 hours, they came to a verdict.
  • I think we´re all on the same page
  • We, the jury, find the defendant Andrew Hammond guilty on the charge of felony DUI.
  • Andrew cried when he heard the verdict and waited to be sentenced by the judge.
  • Andrew Hammond I sentence you to four years in prison.
  • NOOOOOOOOOOO
  • After Andrew was transferred to prison, he devised a plan for filing an appeal.
  • Soon after review, Andrews's appeal was denied, and because of Hammonds's continuous behavioral issues in prison, he was forced to stay for his entire four years,
  • THE END
