Storyboard Tekst

  • Evolution through natural selection was discovered by Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace but... What backs up these theories? We will be discussing two processes that allow Charles Darwins theory to exist. They are comparative anatomy and embryology.
  • Comparative anatomy and embryology both prove the theory of evolution through natural selection. The studies surrounding comparative anatomy and embryology show that various species descend from a common ancestor, hence proving that evolution exists now and in history.
  • Comparative anatomy is the study of similar structure within organisms. There are two similar structures in organisms being the homologous structures and the analogous structures.
  • An example of this is the wing of a bird or a bat, the leg of a dog, the flipper of a whale and even your human arm. These are all descendants of the same common ancestor. This proves the existence of evolution through natural selection.
  • An example of this is on the board
  • Comparative embryology is the study of the similarities and differences in the embryos of different species. Similar to comparative anatomy, embryo similarities are evidence of common ancestry.
