- Yes, The longer we stay the more debt we are going to fall into.

- What they are talking about is SHARECROPPING. Sharecropping is a legal arrangement with regard to agricultural land in which a landowner allows a tenant to use the land in return for a share of the crops produced on that land. Sharecropping falls under economic.
- The farmers were basically treated as slaves. The difference between the two is freedom, sharecroppers were free people, slaves were not. But the sharecroppers can not back up now because they have money that is due to the owner.
- Sharecropping became a cycle of debt for many people who were part of this system. Many sharecroppers were former slaves. When they became free, they didn't have the resources to buy all the things they needed in order to farm the land. As a result, they rented land from the landowners to earn money, that did not really work out.
