  • okay!
  • hey guys! today we will be revising the questions we memorized yesterday.
  • The Sun is the source of most of the energy that drives the biological and physical processes in the world around us—in oceans and on land it fuels plant growth that forms the base of the food chain, and in the atmosphere it warms air which drive sour weather.
  • What influences does the Sun have on a region's climate?
  • The greater Earth's axial tilt angle, the more extreme our seasons are, as each hemisphere receives more solar radiation during its summer, when the hemisphere is tilted toward the Sun, and less during winter, when it is tilted away.
  • Does the tilt of Earth's axis of rotation influence climate?
  • Latitude is themeasurement of distance north or south of the Equator.
  • What is latitude?
  • The Equator is an imaginary line around the middle of the Earth. It is halfway between the North and South Poles and divides the Earth into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Tropical climates are found near the equator. They are warm and humid and experience a lot of rainfall, particularly during their wet season, which can occur once or twice each year. Rain forests grow in tropical climates. Deserts are places where there is very little rainfall throughout the year.
  • What is the equator and what is the climate there like?
  • The Tropic of Cancer, which is also referred to as the Northern Tropic, is the most northerly circle of latitude on Earth at which the Sun can be directly overhead. This occurs on the June solstice, when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted toward the Sun to its maximum extent. The Tropic of Capricorn (or the Southern Tropic) is the circle of latitude that contains the subsolar point at the December (or southern) solstice. It is thus the southernmost latitude where the Sun can be seen directly overhead. It also reaches 90 degrees below the horizon at solar midnight on the June Solstice.
  • What is the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn?
