yeah, can't wait to get started this place looks good
Kenji just got a job at a workshop for car repairs, part of the team are Clint and Leo who are in a relationship. Leo and Clint are guys so their gender and sex category does not align with social constructs. In this scene Kenji meets Leo for the first time.
welcome to auto-works! Kenji, right?
Kenji notices Leo has a wristband with the LGBTQ colors and has his nails painted but he doesn't say anything about it. Because of social constructs he would expect a workshop worker to be masculine which is something normally associated with such workers.
sounds good lets get right to it
come on I'll get you started on some cars that just came in this morning
Leo and Kenji have spent some time together now and they're changing the wheels for the last vehicle of the day. Out of curiosity Kenji asks Leo why his nails are painted black. Leo finds the question random but he confidently responds nevertheless.
hey Leo I noticed your wristband earlier, is that for spreading awareness?
yeah well, the thing is I've been discriminated in the past because of my sexuality and now I wear it with pride to show other people they don't have to be afraid of what society thinks
Leo touches on the preconceived thoughts and opinions of others without experience which is prejudice
oh I'm sorry to hear. I think you have a point regarding societal view
exactly, so many kids out there are afraid of what they're friends or even parents would think because they're different
yeah that seems like a reasonable explanation
you mentioned sexuality earlier but I'm curious to know what the difference is between sexuality and gender
good question. Hmmm I don't know how to put it but I'd say that sexuality is more about attraction and gender is what people expect from you because of your sex. makes sense?
*door shuts
I think I learned a few things today. to be honest with you I would've just assumed that you're a straight guy probably because of the work environment
I don't blame you because its the way you've been conditioned to think. But at least now you have a better understanding. see you tomorrow
