- Pete! Where are you!
- Each morning, Jim walked to the corner mart for coffee and a lottery ticket. He always passed Pete and gave the same reply to the jangling of coins.
- Fine, Lets use the other half for the renovation of our house.
- Jim, Come on. Can we just use the other half of the money you won in the lottery to renovate our house? Besides, it's been months since Pete was missing.
- Pete would then invariably respond to Jim's reply with a tip of his soiled, red hat.
- When Jim finally won the lottery, he searched for Pete everywhere in the mart, but he wasn't able to find him.
- Several months have passed, and Jim still hasn't found Pete. His wife convinced him to use the other half of the wins in the lottery to renovate their house.
- The following spring, working in the garden, Jim unearthed a familiar red. While lost in astonishment and horror, the faint smell of her perfume permeated among the roses before...
