Storyboard Tekst

  • End of the Seven Years War
  • Oh no! This Seven Year War has left us in debt and we will need to tax colonists to pay it back!
  • Stamp Act
  • I know, right? This really makes me want to rebel against the British right now...
  • I can't believe they're taxing us so much! Is there anything that isn't taxed?
  •
  • Boston Massacure
  •
  • DIE!
  • The end of the Seven Years War left Britain in a massive debt in 1763. The costs of the war lead the British to enforce taxes onto the Atlantic Coast to pay it back. This is the cause of many events yet to come.
  • Boston Tea Party
  • In 1765, every little thing was taxed. This includes papers, legal documents, newspapers, playing cards, and business documents. The taxing was done so Britain could pay back the debt they were in. The colonists were not fond of the taxing as they didn't get any representation in the government.
  • Declaration of Independence
  • On March 5, 1770, American colonists taunted British troops by throwing stuff at them. This lead to a huge massacre, resulting in 3 deaths and 2 injuries. Colonists used this act against the British to make them seem merciless.
  • War and Liberty
  • We are the Sons of Liberty!
  • A group of men called the Sons of Liberty worked together to destroy over £90,000 (over 1M in today's money) worth of tea by dumping it into the Boston Harbor. They snuck onto British ships at night on December 16, 1773. It was the first organized act of defiance against the British. Several laws called the Coercive Acts followed after this event to punish the colonists for their behavior.
  • We won't stand for British rule anymore! With this act of defiance, we will rise for liberty.
  • The Declaration of Independence was written and signed. In the July of 1776, freedom was declared. This marks America's freedom. It was drafted by a five man committee but was mainly written by Jefferson.
  • We want rights. We want liberty. Our country wants its freedom. We need to go to war.
  • America fights for their independence and come out victorious in 1782. Colonists that were loyal to Britain evacuate to Britain, Canada, and British colonies in the West Indies. The treaty of Paris finally ends the war. Independence was given to the 13 states at last.
