- The people that I left at my old school have been through everything with me. Most of the people that I knew went to my elementary school when we were younger, so I have known all of them for quite a while now. On my last day there, my 4th period class held a going away party in the student union for me. I felt super grateful to have friends like those that care so much about me. Some of my friends also started crying which broke my heart. I felt like I had left my whole childhood behind because of these people that have been with me all my life. When I saw my best friend crying, I started crying as well. I was so sad that I had to leave her, but it did not mean that I would not be able to hang out with her anymore. It just meant that I would not be able to see her as much as I used to. But I am so glad to have her in my life, and I am glad she is my best friend too. I could not do anything without her.
- How I Felt
- I'll be okay.. right?
- Before I had left Granada High School, I had attended the homecoming dance with all my friends. It was one of the best nights to remember. Not just because it was homecoming, but also because it was my birthday. I was happy since I got to spend my last day there enjoying the time I had with my friends.
- In the End...
- I felt my heart break when the dance had ended because I had to say goodbye to everyone. They all decided to take pictures with me and sing me happy birthday before I left. We all had a vast group hug and some of my friends, Jack, and Katie specifically, started tearing up and crying. If they had an enjoyable time, then that is all the happiness I need in my life.
- How it Turned Out!
- The emotion of gratitude, gratefulness, and endearment is what I came to understand and harbor. The fact that I felt remarkably close with my friends was only because I was used to seeing them every day. When leaving, I reacted with emotion without any clarity or consciousness of what I am taking with me as a result. At that moment, sadness overcame me and now after two weeks, a different kind of emotion arose in me.
- Although my friends are far from me daily, we are still connected at heart. In conclusion, me transferring to a new school had very much to do with my parents' decision to make our lives a bit easier so I can be closer to them. My family and my family’s comfort come first beyond any friendships that I hold.
- When facing any challenge or change it is always a stressful situation. However, after you deal with it you realize it was not so challenging after all. Same goes with friendships. Building them is scary, leaving them is scary and yet nothing changes because you leave a certain place. To get to this point of understanding one must endure the unknown emotional rollercoaster. At the end you remain who you are and those who know you and love you will always somehow stay in your life.
