  • At the Technical University of Graz.
  • In 1856, July 10, Nikola was born in Smijan, Croatia. Nikola had 5 siblings, he had three sisters and one brother. Nikola was not the only one who was interested in electrical inventions, he was inspired by his mother, Djuka Mandic. She invented small household appliances while she was pregnant.
  • His first job
  • It was 1861 something had happened that changed his When Nikola was 7, his brother was killed in a riding accident. After that day 7-year-old Nikola was seeing visions. That was the first sign of his mental illness.
  • His decision
  • In 1875 to 1878, Nikola went to the Technical University of Graz and philosophy at the University of Prague. There he studied Maths and Physics. A few years had passed and it’s now 1882. Nikolas went on a walk, he came up with an idea that may have changed his whole career. He thought of a brushless AC motor, he started to draw his vision while he was walking.
  • His career success
  • Later that year he moved to Paris and got a job. His job was to repair direct current power plants with the Continental Edison Company. After two years he decided to move to the United States.1884 has come, just after Nikola had moved to New York, he was hired as an engineer at Thomas Edison’s Manhattan Headquarters. There he showed his blazing ideas, although in 1885 he decided to quit his job. He had accomplished and made a successful career at Thomas Edison’s Manhattan Headquarters.
  • Once Nikola was told by Thomas that he would pay $50,000 for an improved design for his DC dynamos. After months of experimenting, Nikola presented his invention and asked for money. Thomas exhaled “ Nikola, you don’t understand our American humor.” After Nikola was told that, he quit his job.
  • After he left his old job, he decided to be independent and start making his own creations. It’s already the 1890’s and Nikola has invented electric oscillator meters, improved lights and the high-voltage transformer. He experimented with X-rays, gave short-range demonstrations of radio communication.
