- Hello, it's so nice to meet with you, Mr. Rosenbaum. I have read your book, and I have to say, I find myself left with a mixture of emotions. In a good way.
- It's very nice to meet with you as well, Miss Danticat, and thank you. I have also read your book, and in turn, I thought it was excellent as it too left me feeling a sense of comfort.
- However, I have to say that I also see it as some type of burden. Not to say that they shouldn't stay damaged, but something like this, I feel that with they endured, they felt responsible to themselves to feel a sense of normality and go and find something to forget.
- I thought your book was great. I thought it was nice to see these characters, after going through something that terrible, to find time to heal from the trauma they faced.
- I lost some members of my family in an earthquake and other horrible events, and for me, fiction took longer time and that was my way of processing.
- No, no. I understand. I felt something similar when I read your story. I understand why your character feels the way he does. I can understand the sense of guilt of wanting to be happy while someone you love has been so badly hurt.
