- What on Earth are you talking about?!?
- Well it just seems like yesterday I was on a volcano then in water. It was some crazy stuff.
- Oh silly you. That's just the rock cycle!
- HUH??
- I still have no idea what you are talking about...
- You know... how we were created?
- Here let me explain. It stated a long time ago with an igneous rock.
- So, I'm an igneous rock?
- Igneous rocks form when lava cools and hardens.
- Well... not exactly. There is another rock called metamorphic.
- So, I'm a metamorphic rock?
- Metamorphic rocks are formed by intense heat and pressure. When lava can't reach the surface, these rocks are formed.
- Well... not exactly. There is one more rock called sedimentary.
- Wow! I won't take this lesson for granite!
- So what rock am I????
- Well you started in lava, and then you traveled to water, and faced weathering to become a sedimentary rock!
- Sedimentary rocks are formed form sediments, which are loose particles. Erosion can turn igneous and metamorphic rocks into sedimentary rocks.
