  • This is the text when at the Tavern, Charlie visits Lyddie in his free time and they talk. After, Charlie leaves Lyddie and Lyddie feels more vulnerable and weak. She really loves Charlie and wants him back. She must deal with her feeling of loneliness to not feel weak and unmotivated because she must get money for her family.
  • Diana is going to a movement during the summer to protest for working conditions. She wants Lyddie to come but she must work more looms for more money. This protest meeting is a fight for better working conditions to the government/society.
  • Betsy wants to escape the Lowell Mill and infd a better job but Amelia does not want her to go. Amelia gets mad at Betsy and they start a verbal fight about Betsy wanting to sign the petition to another job.
