I wish my family had money, to buy me gifts for my birthday, unfournatley my father immigrated to the US in 1852, where job's did not want to hire Irish People, so we often do not have money, as we don't have jobs. My dad grew up in Ireland, but came here during the potato famine, he immigrated through ellis island, but this ring is one of the only things he still has from Ireland. My mother got sent back to Ireland, as many women did back then, but my parents agreed to raise me here, so I would have a better life, but my life here is horrible, and my father won't even talk to me.

Today, I went to the library to learn about Irish Immigration and Ellis Island. I also wanted to learn about my ring
It is super intresting, immigrants were discriminated against, because they aparentley had no manners, and were poor.

this book say's that people left ireland because, they were kicked out because of their religious belief's, they were promised land in america, or they were avoiding stravation because of the potato famine
Glide: 5
i left because I am Anglican, and was discriminated against in Ireland. I came here for religious freedom, but ended up facing discrimination here too.
dad? why did you leave ireland???

I guess I never knew why you came here, but ever since I got this old ring, I started to like Ellis Island, and all of this other stuff
why would you like to know? You have never taken in interest in our culture, I though you were ashamed?

You are not wearing your ring correctly! If you are single, which I hope you are you wear it on your right hand with the heart facing outwards. I just gave it to you because I wore it for years on my left hand, the married way, hoping your mom would finally come to America, I have given up hope for that, but any Irish Boy may know what your ring means, and you could find a boyfriend. Your mother would have wanted you to be happy and be proud of your culture.
