- Dill their summer friend dares Jem to touch the Radley place which is seen as bad and scary because of Boo Radley. This is one of their attempts to see Boo Radley who is assumed to be scary to others because he never goes outside.
- Mrs. Dubose always sends rude remarks to the finches and they have to ignore her when they do pass by her house. This represented how they were going to get rude remarks because their father was going to defend Tom in the trial.
- Atticus shot a mad dog that was heading towards there street. This represented the racism that was heading toward them because of the trial.
- A mob of people go to Atticus's office to demand for Tom Robinson. Atticus refuses and Scout starts a conversation with Mr. Cunningham about entailment. Which makes the Mob feel guilty about targeting Atticus and leave him alone.
- Atticus is the lawyer in charge of defending Tom Robinson's case against the Ewells. At the en of the trial he made a speech and tried to convince everyone to vote not guilty. Even though he provided enough evidence to prove that Tom's innocence the verdict was guilty.
- Mr. Ewell attempts to attack Scout and Jem when they where on their way to a school event. He ended up knocking Jem on conscious when he attacked them.
