Storyboard Tekst

  • We finally arrived to the mantle! The mantle is located right below the crust. This layer can also be divided into 2 parts: the upper mantle, with a thickness of 2,900 Km and the lower mantle, with its thickness of about 660-2,891 km. In total, the mantle is about about 3,000 km thick.
  • OHH! How hot is in here! The temperature of this layer is between a range of 500 and 4,000 °C. The pressure of the mantle is a little bit higer than the pressure of the crust, as there is more layers on top of the mantle creating more and more pressure.
  • This layer has a very different texture! Its called a viscous fluid, this means that the mantle is close to a solid but it flowa like a liquid. Just like honey! The materials in this layer are dense Iron, magnesium and silicon! The mantle is the thickest layer of the Earth!
  • Sorry for my wierd talking, but I am trapped in the heat transfered by the convection currents! The mantle has connvection currents, these current that transfer heat from the inner core. What happens in this currents is that molten rock in the mantle is heated from the core. Hotter molten rock from the bottom of the mantle becomes less dense and rises up towards the crust. Then, molten rocks cools when it reaches the top of the mantle and becomes more dense and sinks down towards the core.

  • Well friends, we had to move on with our trip! We are now in the upper core! The upper core is located below the mantle and above the inner core! This layer of the Earth has a thickness of 2299 km. In this layer, the pressure increased from all the layers above it! Also, the temperature of the inner core is of about 4,026 - 5, 726 °C!
  • This layer is only liquid layer of the Earth! Isnt that amazing? Well, this layer is completley liquid because of its intense heat as it is so close to the hottest layer, the inner core! This layer is made out of 80% of iron, along with nickel and some other lighter elements.
