The Winter at Valley Forge (1777)

George Washington's Quarters

Soldiers Quarters

Problems Faced by the Soldiers #1

Problems Faced by the Soldiers #2

Training with Baron Fredrick von Steuben

the colonist stayed at the valley forge because they need a place to stay over the cold, long winter that they were going through. also a place where injured soldiers could heal up and return to battle.

since George Washington was leading the colonist he had a better place to sleep and eat because he was the general. Also he had the house built in 1773.

the soldiers headquarters were not close to as nice as George Washington but they dd the job. they had trenches and two windows in the huts.

lots of soldiers got a deisaes called small pox which was like the plague. it was very contagious and also with the cold weather there was hypothermia to worry about aswell.

there was a shortage of meat so anyone that was sick couldn't get the right nutrients to fight the disease. also with a shortage of food lots of soldiers starved to death.

when training withe baron they were taught to be fearless and try to intimidate the British and also he taught they how to use bayonets.
