  • The Magna Carta was a document signed by King John of england guaranteeing English peoples political liberties. It was important to the American Revolution because it served to inspire and justify actions. The colonists thought they deserved the same rights as the people in England.
  • Navigation acts 1763
  • The Age of Enlightenment was a intellectual movement in which reason is better than tradition and science is more reliable than blind faith. The ideas was mostly centered around human happiness.
  • Sugar Act September 1764
  • An act of parliament seen that created a constitutional monarchy in England. The act controlled the monarchy and also strengthened the rights and liberties of an individual citizen. The bill of rights were signed into law by William III and Mary II. It led to the revolution because of an injustice controlling Brittish government.
  • Quartering Act March of 1765
  • The Navigation acts were laws designed to develop and regulate English ships, shipping, trade, and buying and selling products between countries and their own colonies. This led to the American Revolution because of the way that the Brittish were unfairly ruling their colonies.
  • The sugar act was aimed at ending the smuggling trade of sugar from the French and the Dutch. The sugar act provided strong enforcement of the duties of refined sugar imported into the colonies from a non Brittish ship. The sugar act started the debate of the no taxation without reprensentation the right of the U.K. legislature to tax the colonies which was a direct cause of the revolution.
