- Magna Carta
- Salutary Neglect
- The Enlightenment
- The Magna Carta was released in July of the year 1215. This writing means that the King is not to use his power for bad, and that him and the government are not above the power of law. This was the first time a written document has stated this.
- Navigation Acts
- The Salutary Neglect lasted from 1607 till 1763. This event was stepping closer to the independence for the colonists because the British had way less interference in the New World which enabled the colonies to mostly govern themselves. The significance of this is because England was allowing America to bypass most of their laws.
- English Bill Of Rights
- The Enlightenment started in 1650, and ended in the beginning of the 19th century. This was a time when new ideas were being formed, and science was becoming favored over religious beliefs. This was a time when people fought against church to start forming ideas from reasoning.
- The Great Awakening
- The Navigation Acts of 1651 put a restriction on where items could be imported and exported to. Things like cash crops were only to be exported to England. This impacted the Americans because they couldn't really get their hands on things like foreign goods.
- The English Bill of Rights were set into place in 1689. These rights gave power to Parliamentary rather than Monarchy in the past. This significantly better system is called Constitutional Monarchy which means the King will no longer be able to be as cruel towards the colonists.
- The Great Awakening happened in the 1730s and 1740s. This was a time when religion was rebooted and encouraged, but people didn't have to go to church and listen to a minister. The significance is that people could have their own connections and ideas with God.
