- grandpa and mattie left town with a bunch of other people
- grandfather and mattie got kicked off the carriage because people claimed he had yellow fever
- mattie was in bush hill hospital and grandfather was there helping the nurse feed the sick. Now grandfather and mattie are gonna go home
- someone broke into matties and grandfathers house and found mattie and started slapping here asking where the silver was.
