  • Morse code was invented in the 1830's by Samuel F. B. Morse. It was later improved to incorporate code for letters with diacritic marks and was called International/Continental Morse Code. International Morse Code also happens to be a bit simpler than the original.
  • Alexander graham bell was the first to patent the telephone in 1876. Bell considered the transmission of speech using the harmonic telegraph concept (a system containing a transmitter and receiver of which consisted of a set of metallic reeds tuned to different frequencies) but he couldn't go through with it.
  • Guglielmo Marconi was the first person to successfully send radio waves in 1901. In 1906 there were the first music signals over the radio in Massachusetts.
  • The ENIAC was invented by John Mauchly and John Presper Eckert in 1946. ENIAC stands for Electronic Numerical Integrator and Calculator.
  • The mark 1 was made by Howard Aiken at Harvard University in 1944. The mark 1 was massive, it weighed five tons.
  • FORTRAN was invented in 1954 by John Backus. FORTRAN is a programming language that stands for Formula Translator.
