- How thats a cuase for the great depression: Overproduction was a cause for the great depression because no consumers led to a loss of jobs, which led to unemployed persons not being able to pay for their basic necessities.
- Buying on Margin
- Whilst farmers overproduced with new mechanized methods it cost them more money already putting them in debt, coupled with the cost of land depreciating and to top it off the overproduced goods with less demand led to a huge price drop on farm produced products which led to unemployment within the farm industry.
- Shaky Banking
- A market built on speculation coupled with short term outlook of investors was not a good way to run a stock market, people in turn sold their stocks when they where worried leading to the crash of the stock market.
- Restrictions On International Trade
- People where buying in stocks on loans and once the economy failed they weren't able to pay off their loans putting them further in debt.
- You owe me money!
- We can't pay off our loans!
- Bankers were making bad investment and companies where going out of buisness, also people lost their savies and led to bank runs.
- You look like you could use a loan!
- I just got out of jail and am looking to buy a house...
- Led to no foreign buyers for our overproduction.. and that enhanced isolationism.
- Overproduction is rampant and nobody wants to deal with America!
