- As news of Harold’s coronation spreads, both William and Harald Hadrada of Norway plan to invade England to contest the throne.

- At the Battle of Stamford Bridge Harald Hadrada and King Harold's brother Tostig are killed.
- William of Normandy and his forces land at Pevensey on the Sussex coast.
- The Battle of Hastings takes place. King Harold of England is killed and William of Normandy is victorious.
