- Zoe has been waiting forever to turn 12 years old so that she can audition for the Kids Baking Challenge on TV. Her parents let her intern at a bakery in order to get practice, then they will decide if she can try out.
- Zoe hides the fact that she is writing to Marcus from her mother. Her Grandma is helping her, and they both feel guilty about lying and sneaking around.
- Zoe struggles to find Marcus' alibi witness, Sarah Thomas. When she finally finds her, Sarah does not remember Marcus.
